The Just Cause for Eviction Ordinance (JCO) became effective on January 23, 2023. It
extends eviction protections to rental units in the City that are not already regulated by
the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO). On January 7, 2025, the City Council approved
a Just Cause Enforcement fee of $31.05 per rental, payable by owners of rental units
subject to the JCO. Landlords of these properties will be billed throughout the first
quarter of the new year. [JCO fees will be waived for properties destroyed, or no
rent is collected due to the fires.]

The webinars will provide information and assistance for landlords with instructions on
paying their annual bills and completing the annual rent registration. This virtual webinar
will also include guidance on completing exemption requests online and filling out the
Rent Registry for properties subject to the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO). These
workshops are for City of Los Angeles landlords and their family members who assist
them in managing their properties, banks, lenders, trustees, servicing companies,
property management companies, listing agents, and anyone contemplating buying or
selling rental property in the City of Los Angeles.

The webinar will be a one-hour session held online via Zoom. At the end of the
presentation, there will be a Q&A period.
